Agenda Item Brief:

The restroom renovation will reconfigure the restrooms to improve the plumbing, replace deteriorating flooring, upgrade fixtures, replace non-compliant drinking fountain, and improve ADA accessibility to the Community Service Wing Restrooms at City Hall.  Staff recommends approval. 



Background:

The City Hall Community Services wing was built more than 45 years ago, in late 1960’s, prior to the current accessibility code requirements and standard building practices.  The restrooms have received minor upgrades over the years however the flooring and many of the fixtures are original and the interior dimensions do not meet accessibility standards.  The renovation project will modernize the interior of the restrooms and create two (2) individual unisex ADA accessible compliant restrooms.  The existing outdated drinking fountain on the exterior of the restrooms will be replaced with an ADA compliant drinking fountain and bottle filler combination unit.



Analysis:

Four (4) quotes were received at City Hall on May 26, 2017 as a result of the informal quote process.  Staff has reviewed the quotes, found no irregularities, and recommends award to the low bid submitted by Truckee Meadows Construction, in the amount of $53,333, which includes a force account of $4,000.  A bid recap is provided below for Council’s review.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the construction contract for the Community Services Wing Restroom Renovation and ADA Upgrade Project in the amount of $53,333 to Truckee Meadows Construction.
