Title: Consideration and possible approval to award a contract to Mike's Trenching for excavation and site preparation for installation of brine production equipment.

Recommendation: Staff recommends that Council approve this contract with Mike's Trenching in the amount of $28,706.00
Financial Impact: $28,706 to be 100% reimbursed through Federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) Grant. Project originally approved on FY 2010-2011 Capital Improvement Plan

Agenda Item Brief: Maintenance Staff is requesting authorization to spend $28,706.00 for site work related to the installation of the brine producion and storage system at Gondolfo Park.
Background: The City received an air quality grant from the Federal Government through the State of Nevada that includes a containment system for the brine storage. This contract will prepare the site including water, and electrical infrastructure needed for the production of brine.
Analysis: A request for informal quotes was sent to four vendors: Mike's Trenching, Stampede Construction, Peavine Construction, and Gerhardt and Berry. Mike's Trenching came in at low bid of $23,706.00 plus a $5,000 force account for unforseen changes.
Alternatives: None
Recommended Motion: I move to approve the award of a contract in the amount of $23,706.00 and force account in the amount of $5,000.00 to Mike's Trenching for site work at Gondolfo Park.
