Title: Public Hearing, Consideration and Possible Approval of the vacation of the southerly portion of Spanish Springs Road public right-of-way from State Highway 445 (Pyramid Highway) easterly 1020.5 feet.

Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible approval of a request from Washoe County Department of Parks and Open Spaces to vacate the southerly portion of Spanish Springs Road. Staff recommends approval.
Background: On July 18, 1978 the Washoe County Commission approved Subdivision Tract Map 1891 for Sky Ranch Unit No. 1-A which dedicated Spanish Springs Road from Nevada State Highway 445 (Pyramid Highway) easterly a distance of 1020.5 feet as public right of way. On January 9, 2006 the Sparks City Council approved Ordinance 2303 annexing 610.39 acres in size, and the southerly portion of Spanish Springs Road to the City of Sparks. Washoe County by Resolution and Order of Abandonment dated September 6, 2011, recorded as Document No. 4038669 in the Official Records of Washoe County, has abandoned the northerly portion of Spanish Springs Road. Washoe County has requested the City abandon the southerly portion of Spanish Springs Road to the County for expansion and access to the County’s Sky Ranch Park.
Analysis: Staff recommends the Council approve the vacation of the southerly half of Spanish Springs Road right-of-way to Washoe County as described in Exhibit “1A” and Exhibit 2A” as depicted on Exhibit “C”.

Recommended Motion: I move to approve the vacation of the southerly portion of Spanish Springs Road from Nevada State Highway 445 (Pyramid Highway) easterly a distance of 1020.5 feet to Washoe County to as outlined by staff.
