Financial Impact: $83,107 in Storm Drains Operations Fund 1640. Budget is available in the FY16 approved CIP 16-6696 Annual Contingency for Emergencies where $152,135 is available.

Agenda Item Brief:

Consideration and possible approval of a contract to Peek Brothers construction for the Treviso Storm Drain Mediation Project in the amount of $83,107. The project is the removal and replacement of a non-performing storm drain outlet pipe. Staff recommends approval.

Background:

This project is the improvement to a non-performing storm drain outlet pipe on D’Andrea Parkway. The current storm drain outlet is buried and provides no outlet for storm water. The proposed drainage improvements include replacing the storm drain pipe with a new storm drain that will outlet with a new headwall and riprap swale. The project also requires replacement of curb & gutter, street section and path to be able to install the new storm drain outlet.

Analysis:

On Wednesday April 13, 2015, this project was advertised for bidding. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 9:00am at City Hall. Four potential bidders attended. The project was formally bid on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. A total of five formal bids were received as outlined in the chart below. Peek Brothers Construction was the low respondent at $83,107. The engineer’s estimate for this project was $107,000.
