Agenda Item Brief: This item allows for a public discussion among the Mayor and City Council on possible ballot question concepts, and possible approval should this be the Council's desire.

Background: Any ballot questions before Sparks voters in 2014 need to be prepared and submitted to the Washoe County Registrar of Voters by July 21. The deadline for the Registrar to receive arguments and rebuttals is August 8. The City is under no requirement to submit a question(s) for the 2014 general election, but due to necessary deadlines and timing, it is important to begin the discussions now should there be a question(s) brought before Sparks voters. For the purposes of this discussion, your staff will note any general ballot question concepts that come out of today’s discussion, and may return for further discussion and possible approval at a future Sparks City Council Meeting.
