A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief: The Corps of Engineers released draft versions of the General Reevaluation Report and Environmental Impact statement for the Truckee River Flood Control Project and is soliciting input from the Community. The attached letter provides the input recommended by staff.
Background: The Corps of Engineers has been working on the most recent iteration of flood control planning since shortly after the 117-year flood occurred on New Year’s Day 1997. Staff has worked cooperatively with the Truckee River Flood Management Authority since its inception with a goal of delivering a project that will protect the City from major flooding. As a member agency of TRFMA, it is important for us to provide an official response to the Corps most recent proposal.
Analysis: Staff has drafted the attached letter and recommends approval.
Alternatives: The City Council could: 1. Approve the letter as written 2. Deny the letter as written 3. Approve a letter modified based on their direction
Recommended Motion: I move to approve the letter of support for the Truckee River Flood Control Project as drafted by staff.
